Description
Review the mini-case below. An Enterprise Information Management (EIM) system for a large direct health and insurance medical provider wanted an enterprise-wide information management system that could be used to support critical cross functional decision making. Some of the problems faced by the firm included data that were only used and managed by specific departments, data that had inconsistent definitions, and data that came from multiple sources. Finally, the firm had to deal with both data redundancy and data inconsistency issues. (Adapted from “Large Health and Medical Insurance Provider Implements Enterprise Information Management System,” www.deloitte.com, Health Care Providers Case Studies.) Questions 1. Should the company assess their current information management? 2. How would a structural model aid the firm in understanding their current information management? 3. What solution would you propose?
