Description

The instructions say: “Students are to determine the pragmatic functions of language utilized by conversational participants. The focus is on the application of the pragmatic aspects of language used by both parties, understanding that pragmatics is “the study of how more gets communicated than is said” (Yule, 1996, p. 3). Students are to provide a conversational analysis of a dialogic interaction by applying Yule’s (1996) “Pragmatics” to the source video. In the analysis, attention to speaker meaning, contextual meaning, inferences and distance is to be explored in this paper. Paper is 5 pages. Primary resource – Yule, G. (1996). Pragmatics.
