Description
Assessment topic (first attempt): Many airports are currently transformed into a metropolis of tomorrow. However, they once used to be constructed beyond the city walls, far away from the city centre and any urban complex. More recently, some international airports have been considered as urban microcosms urging cities to develop around them. Drawing on the relevant theoretical background and appropriate examples, discuss the socio-cultural, economic and environmental concerns of the current trend, as well as the measures to be taken in the airport sector to promote and support sustainability in practice.
