Description
Organization: Clear thesis statement & TEA paragraphs. (Topic – Evidence – Analysis) Underline your thesis & topic sentences. Introduction with a hook and background that leads to a focused thesis Content: Use only your personal experience or that of your close friends and family members (using real names—no made-up uncle “Bobs” and aunt “Marias”). If you want to use outside sources, the only ones you may use are Adichie, McClain, and/or Dweck. We will not be covering how to do citations for this essay, so try your best if you use quotations. If you don’t know how to use quotations yet, don’t use them! Just use your personal experience. If you use Adichie, McClain, or Dweck, you need a Works Cited page at the end of the essay (again: if you don’t know what that is, don’t use quotes!) Requirements: Include a minimum of 5 vocabulary words – conduct, emphasize, invest, range, strategy, contact, input, policy, secure, undertaking, commission, evident, obtain, hierarchy, mutual, substitute, access, context, impose, notion, rational from our chapters 16-19 in Vocabulary Power 3, highlighted so that I can see them. If you include more, highlight them as well (you will get a stronger grade in the “language use” category) Proofread especially for run-on sentences, comma splices, fragments, connectors, subject-verb agreement, and verb tense problems.
