Proofread and revise appropriately for grammar. — Using the digital database CQ Researcher (which is available through the ACTC library’s website) locate, read, and analyze the Pro/Con debate about the following question: “Should College Tuition Be Free?”by Tom Price. (The Pro/Con is written by Morley Winograd and Rick Staisloff, respectively.) After studying the Pro/Con debate, construct a full-page argumentative response that (1) declares and defends your opinion on the issue while (2) evaluating the strengths and/or weaknesses of the arguments presented in the texts (e.g. Are they good arguments or not, and why?). Helpful Tips: Do not use outside sources for this assignment. You may only use quotes and facts from the two texts in the Pro/Con debate. Any quotes or facts used must be correctly cited, both in text and on a short works cited page. Pay close attention to your spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction, as all of these elements will be evaluated. Your writing style and tone should be appropriate for a formal, academic audience. Make sure you complete both aspects of this assignment: You must state and defend an opinion on the issue while also evaluating the assigned articles. Do not simply summarize the issue or the two opposing arguments. You must step into the debate, respond to the texts and the overall issue with your opinion, and justify that stance for an academic audience.
