For the term Research Essay, you are to CHOOSE your own topic. You should try to pick a topic that is argumentative or something that people argue about. Some classic topics are abortion, the death penalty, etc. The paper works best if you choose a topic that is debatable. In the paper, you will present both sides of the argument and then choose a side or conclusion. Think of it as similar to a court case -present both sides and then decide which is strongest, etc. The instructions above are from my instructor.
