For this assignment, you will work to explain the Rhetorical Triangle, or rhetorical situation*, for your own Imitation Project. In other words, now that you’re moving beyond the proposal to the real thing, you will need to begin to explain how the various considerations of your Project, from the genre choice(s) you’ve made to the social context you might be responding to, inform your work and help shape your choices as a rhetor.  Please take each of these prompts one at a time. Each analysis should be at least 2-3 paragraphs long, or 1/2 to 1 page in length, single-spaced. (If that seems impossible, try to get more detailed–or begin your project, then come back to this work.) This is important: you may find yourself looking things up in order to answer some of the questions below, and at least one of these prompts asks you to cite evidence from an outside source that I’ve provided via the Resource Banks. Along with your written analyses, then, you will also submit a Works Cited page in MLA format.  Genre Analysis In 2+ paragraphs, explain how you will use specific genre conventions or genre elements to communicate your message to your specific audience. Examine some of the ways that you’ll be using AND subverting conventions of the Bestiary in the IP, and explain why these are strong strategies in terms of persuading your audience of your message. You should use and cite at least one outside source–plenty can be found on the Resource Banks on Canvas (see the Course Resources Module and the Week 6 Module).  Audience Analysis Answer these questions as fully as possible in paragraph form, consulting research about possible demographics and model samples if need be. Add any new sources you use to your Works Cited page. 1. What are the demographics of your audience?  2. What are the activities of your audience?  3. What are the interests of your audience?  4. What are the opinions of your audience?  5. What might make your audience adversarial? (i.e., resistant to your message) 6. What are the means of persuasion that you might use to convince your audience of your particular message?  7. What samples and research did you use for your answers, if any? Remember to add these to your Works Cited page.  Message & Purpose Analysis Answer all of these questions as fully as possible, in paragraph form. Make sure that you have good reasons for all of your choices, using outside sources as needed (as always, add any sources you find on your own to the Works Cited page).  Answer all of these questions fully: 1. What is your message? 2. Why is this your message? 3. What engages you about this topic? 4. What engages your audience about this topic? 5. Why does this matter? 6. What are your new ideas (insights) in terms of this message? How are you thinking about this differently than others? 7. Is your message arguable? Complex? How could you make it more complex? 8. What is your purpose? Why? 9. How do you think you’ll persuade your audience of that purpose? Social & Historical Context Analysis Answer all of these questions as fully as possible, in paragraph form, please. If you choose to do additional research, please cite all sources and add them to your Works Cited page. 1. What is happening socially in the context of your IP?  2. What is happening historically in the context of your IP?  3. What does your audience need to know about the environment that you’re writing about?  4. How does the context affect your message and purpose?  5. How does the context affect your genre?  6. How does context affect your methods of persuasion?
