Write a 500 – 600 word analysis in which you engage Thesis 5 of Cohen’s 7 theses in an analysis of the films you viewed for Weeks 5 & 6. Include short, direct quotations from Cohen’s chapter, Luckhurst , and Dendle  as well as specific instances from the two films that support your analysis.  Cite quotations following these examples: As Cohen argues people of color, “have found themselves repeatedly transformed into monsters, whether to validate specific alignments of masculinity and whiteness, or simply to be pushed from its realm of thought” (15) .     These following questions are meant to spark ideas for your analysis. Please do not feel that you need to address each one in your Reading Response or format your response as a Q & A. I recommend spending equal time on each film and each thesis.  What does the history of the american-ized zombie in Luckhurst’s chapter say about how we use racial constructs to produce monsters? How is Cohen’s thesis 5, The Monster Polices the Borders of the Possible, reflected in the films you’ve watched? for instance, in terms of mobility, how might the zombies represent racial slavery, segregation, and/or the imagined threat of miscegenation?  What are some of the common points in the movies that reflect on Dendle’s idea that a zombie is a “cultural barometer”?
