Description
Objective: Analyze a case using the Eight Steps to Sound Decision Making found in Chapter 2 of the textbook. Due Date: November 15 at 11:59 p.m. CST. CASE: Read the case by clicking here: Merck & River Blindness Please don’t reference any other source than the case provided above and the eight steps to ethical decision making found in your textbook. I want to pretend you are back in 1978 and to apply the Eight-Step Model for your case analysis. You work for Merck as the chairman and are responsible for deciding which projects to pursue, so you will come at this from that perspective. As chairman, how should you handle this issue? Should you invest more time and money developing Ivermectin into a drug that is safe for humans knowing it will likely never be profitable, or should you put a stop to any further research knowing that it could negatively impact profits? REMINDER: You need to make a decision using the eight steps. You are not analyzing a decision that has already been made; you are the one making the decision. You are pretending it is 1978 and a decision hasn’t been made. You will analyze what you know from the case and make your decision based on that. DO NOT tell me the decision you made in the introduction before going through the steps. This is an individual case analysis (it is NOT a group project) where you apply the Eight-Step Model described in Chapter 2 on pages 51-58. Good luck! Download the Case Analysis Template. This template contains the headings and subheadings for the “Eight-Step Model”. Format Requirements: Document to be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Paper margins are 1-inch top/bottom and 1-inch left/right. Paper is to be double-spaced; use 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font; page numbers right aligned in headers. A Title Page with paper title, author’s name, and institution,Texas A&M University-Commerce, centered horizontally and vertically. Title Page is also to include a Running head in the Title Page Header. To provide a thorough analysis with commentary, your paper (not including title page and reference page) should be at minimum 8 pages and a maximum of 10 pages. Use Headings and Subheadings
