Your second paper involves examining the facts in the case of Leonard Peltier, the American activist who is serving two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for the murder of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975.  Begin by presenting the most important facts of the case (you will need to use outside sources in order to do this well). What actually happened that resulted in the imprisonment of Leonard Peltier? Did the evidence justify the criminal sentence imposed on him? Explain your viewpoint. Next, correctly use at least four psychological vocabulary terms from your book (or Study Aids) to explain the behavior of the federal agents and/or the Native Americans who were involved in these events. You must underline the vocabulary words you use. Finally, write a persuasive argument reflecting your own personal viewpoint regarding Leonard Peltier’s imprisonment. Be sure to state whether this is a case of social justice or injustice. Your personal decision about whether this is a case of social justice or injustice will not impact your grade, but you must follow the instructions about formatting and content very carefully.  Note that a truly persuasive argument often involves presenting the opposite perspective and arguing against it in unbiased language. At the end of your paper (separate from the essay), write whether you give permission for a copy of your paper to be sent to Leonard Peltier, who welcomes correspondence from his supporters.  Paper must be at least 2 pages in length, although you may write a longer paper if you wish. The paper must be double-spaced, written in 12 point Times New Roman font, and have 1 inch margins.
