Description
The purpose of this discussion is to begin thinking about the various functions of theatre in our society. As you read, theatre takes many different forms. Some of these are formal productions such as plays or movies. However, many play out in more subtle ways such as how a pastor delivers a sermon or a politician a speech. These examples serve different functions of theatre and the ability to communicate with one another. This discussion will also allow you to engage with your classmates about this topic and give you a chance to learn from each other perspective and experience. Step 1: After reading, Part One: Creating a World, Mapping Reality: An Introduction to Theatre (Links to an external site.) by Charlie Mitchell and Michelle Hayford, answer the following prompts. Step 2: Answer 1- Why do you think drama is such an effective and meaningful way to communicate ideas? Use specific examples of where you see this and the role of theatre/drama/storytelling in our society. 2-How has the primary purpose or uses of the theatre changed over time? 3- Of all of the uses listed in the chapter, which do you think is the most effective? Explain, and give specific examples as evidence of your thoughts
