Case Memo

Description

The Case Memo Each student will be required to submit two case memos for grading (at 10% of the fi-nal course grade per memo). The case studies will be assigned in class. These are not intended to be conventional case analysis papers. The expectation here is that for each memo, you will submit a decision-oriented document not unlike the kind of work you would be expected to complete for your organization. The preferred framework is as follows: Header To: Decision-maker in case From: You Date: As appropriate Subject: Should pertain to the challenge(s) in the case Description of the challenges This should be no more than one paragraph and should clearly describe the challenges confronting the decision-maker in the case Recommendations This section should also be quite brief. It should simply articulate your recommenda-tions to the decision-maker for addressing the challenges in the case. Analysis This is body of your memo. Here, you should provide a clear defense for your rec-ommendations, leveraging case data and course concepts where it makes sense to do so. Conclusion This section should also be quite brief. Typically, it serves as a transition to your rec-ommended implementation steps. Implementation program You should be as precise as possible here, and address key activities, timing, resources and evaluation metrics. Exhibits This section should include presentation of how you have applied major models or frameworks and how you have analyzed case data. In other words, the work in the ex-hibits should support your work in the analysis section of the memo. You are limited to 1000 words for the body of the memo so please write clearly and succinctly. There is no limit on the number of exhibits you provide. However, please do only include exhibits that clearly advance the argument you are making in the memo.
