Bonus Points Instructions Write a 1 page summary on one of these two options: 1. a presentation at the Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference (PURC) ‣ Attend the virtual conference on November 13, 2020 (see flyer for information) ‣ More information: https://psychology.gsu.edu/purc/ ‣ Watch at least one presentation and take notes 2. a recent paper by a GSU Psychology faculty member ‣ go to psychology.gsu.edu/graduate/program-areas-and-concentrations ‣ Choose the program area you find most interesting ‣ Click the Faculty tab and browse the bios that you find interesting ‣ Find a recent paper (less than 5 years old), e.g. on the profile or websites ‣ Look it up and read it, e.g. on their websites, using scholar.google.com, or using PsycINFO on library.gsu.edu You can earn up to 10 bonus points toward your final overall grade based on your inclusion of the following elements: Poster/Paper Information ‣ Title and author(s) Background ‣ Primary theory/theories ‣ Research question ‣ Hypothesis/hypotheses (include null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis for at least one question) Methods Sample ‣ Who was the target population (what type of people did they want to generalize their data to?) ‣ What type of sampling technique was used (i.e., simple random, systematic, cluster, multistage, stratified random, oversampling, convenience, purposive, snowball, quota, or some combination)? Procedures/Materials ‣ How did they conduct the study and/or what types of stimuli or assessments did they use? Results ‣ What statistical test(s) did they use? (You only need to name the tests; you don’t have to understand them.) ‣ What were the main findings? (You do not need to summarize all of the findings, just the important ones.) ‣ Did they retain or reject their null hypothesis?
