Structural and institutional barriers issues still pervade our culture leading to oppression and inequities. Such issues like race/ethnicity/class/poverty and gender. You will be focusing on RACE, particularly the African American race. What is your responsibility to make our society better in regard to the topic of race? How do you envision the future of African Americans in the U.S? What 2 concrete practical actions can be taken to be a compassionate person/ peacemaker (and not just smiling at people, praying, or being nice) Please explain in detail and the impact such actions would have. Feel free to come up with more actions. It helps to identify problems that are unique to African Americans in the U.S and then going on to discussing actions a normal person, or group of people, can do to help remedy these problems in a peaceful manner. For example, there was a student who has over a million followers, decided to use their social media presence to create a weekly discussion on the origins and history of oppressive language. Again concrete actions can be taken. The first post was about the word “THUG” and to whom it applied and how it was being skewed and by whom.
