I want to write about Ezra Pound “In a Station of the Metro” . Choose one work of literature from the textbook that we have read in class. Using the definitions of realism, naturalism, and local color from the class lecture, discuss how the selection you have chosen is a representative work of literature that incorporates the characteristics of realism, or naturalism, or local color (regionalism). (You may review the Introduction and Timeline if you wish.) The essay should show an understanding of the literary movement and of the text itself. Prepare an analysis of a poem written during the early 20th century that we have discussed in class. In this analysis, paraphrase the main idea(s) of the poem; also discuss its purpose and theme. You may use the author’s biographical information if relevant. Your analysis should discuss the poet’s use of language and how the language reinforces the main idea and theme of the poem. Prepare an analysis of any of the short works of fiction written during the early 20th century that is in our textbook we have discussed in class. In this analysis, discuss one of the story’s themes. Discuss the various literary devices (symbolism, setting, tone, etc.) that the author uses to get this theme across. You may use the author’s biographical information if relevant.
