Strategic CSR Planning –Developing Strategic Sustainability Goals, Opportunities, KPIs and Actions for a company. Analyze a company** (or organization) of your choice —after Instructor approves your selection. The project has 4 parts summarized below. You will be evaluated of the 4 sections below) and also on CityU APA and grammar related requirements. See below for detailed description and tips on what to consider in each of the 4 key sections of your individual project. Also see the grading rubric. Individual Project -Breakdown of Requirements and Analysis: Introduction: (15 marks) Introduce the business/organization (in your own words), and Briefly describe key areas of negative social and environmental impacts of this company (and this sector), and the company’s stage of sustainability. Identify /establish goals & opportunities and challenges for advancing their sustainability performance. (30 marks total) List/briefly describe 2-4 goals (not targets) (summary of goals –5 marks), and Describe 4-6 opportunities that relate to the above goals. Make sure it is evident which opportunity links to which goal or goals (sometimes an opportunity may relate to more than 1 goal). Why is the opportunity material to this company, and if you think there are challenges of implementing these opportunities, discuss that too. (Detailed discussion of opportunities and challenges associated with each goal –25 marks) Note: This is the what and the why. Here’s where you demonstrate your analytics skills, as well as your knowledge of sustainability in business. Design Key Performance Indicators (KPIs or sustainability metrics). Each goal and opportunity must have at least 1 KPI attached to it –to measure progress. (15 marks) See template chart and example. Operationalizing Sustainability Opportunities –Identify how the company will/can act on each of these opportunities? (15 marks) This is where you get specific about how to operationalize the opportunity, for example: What policy/policies or procedure do you recommend they implement? –and/or What projects or initiatives will help the company achieve each goal and related opportunities? –and/or Are there product or services can they develop (or improve) to achieve sustainability results? Note: Here you demonstrate you are considering what sustainability advancements are realistic for this company to implement. The tactics (or operationalizing activities/initiatives) you briefly describe here should be things you think are reasonable to implement, given the size and type of company, its sustainability stage, etc. This will further demonstrate your analytical skills. The above fulfills Requirements (40%) and Analysis (35%) portion of this project’s grade. The company (or organization) you analyze for your individual project must not have a sustainability plan or publish as sustainability or CSR report. It cannot have a sustainability department or publish robust information about sustainability plans and actions. Thus, it is likely a smaller-to-medium size company –not a large or multi-national company. Consider doing a company with which you have some familiarity –perhaps you work (or worked) there, or a friend or family works there. Perhaps you’d like to work there, or you shop there or have some other connection or interest in the company. Maybe you just see it when you walk by on the street. Ideally, it’s a company you’d like to learn more about –so you enjoy doing the research and analysis for this project. ***(I choice Urban Revivo, is a fast fashion design brand like Chinese Zara) ***(The first sustainability opportunity may be reducing waste, which is environmentally related. As a fast fashion design brand, we are producing thousands of cloth and product; there will be many waste. What we can do is to donate the extra clothing to homeless people, use recycled materials for packaging and less materials for design. The second one may be to reduce the energy used LED lights and train emphlyees with the behavior of turning off all the lights after work. The last opportunity may be textile, goods will feature 100% recycled or certified sourced of fabric. )
