As you prepare to submit your Final Contemporary Community Project Paper (the Final for this course), here are some pointers for what is required and how you can get started: Directions: You will study the organization that you identified in your Identifying Communities assignment. This part of the assignment is a follow up from that assignment; you will analyze the organization and propose a tool that the organization could use (or use differently) to better contribute to social justice. I will assess your work for this essay (1,200 to 2,000 words) based on the rubric that will be in Canvas. In your essay, you need to identify something about the organization that you feel you can contribute to, or expound upon. This is not meant to be a “this is what you could do better!” type of assignment (see below), especially if this is an organization that you are not self-identified as part of. However, you can search through their organization’s website, social media, community partnerships, civic engagement, etc. to identify and articulate where you can be an effective ally for the organization’s progression. This may be something that you choose to make available to the organization, but you do not have to for this assignment. You may choose to reach out to the organization for material that will help you with this paper, such as: pamphlets and/or other reading material. This may be helpful if the organization does not have these things on their website, or if their physical location is closed due to COVID or people are out-of-office for the time being. You will need to include research around what the organization is currently doing or has previously done to address the equity issue that you may be trying to address with your solution(s).
