Description
Analyze the character of Nora in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll House, discussing her major character traits. Note: Your paper must have one primary source and at least four secondary sources. In addition to short quotations from your sources, you must also have just one long quotation. And the long quotation should not be more than 6-7 lines. Note: The primary source must come from your class textbook Literature Craft and Voice. 2nd ed. New York: McGraw-Hill, 2013. Very important: Each topic sentence should start a body paragraph. Note that the topic sentence is to the body paragraph what the thesis statement is to the entire essay. And for your essay to achieve unity, each body paragraph must discuss the main idea in the thesis statement, and every sentence in the body paragraph must relate to the topic sentence. Also, the essay achieves coherence when every sentence in the paper is closely related. So a writer can use transitional words and phrases to link one thought to the other. Grading Guidelines Passing papers will have adhered to the following: 1. A strong introduction with a clearly stated thesis statement, preferably, as the last sentence of the introduction. 2. Errors are minor, not so many as to interfere with communication. 3. Enough details, specifics, and examples (with appropriate quotations). 4. Variety in sentence structure. 5. Body paragraphs must have topic sentences with transitions. 6. You must punctuate your sentences well. 7. The paper must be on the specific topic in question. 8. Organize your paper well. Please do not write a plot summary. 9. You must cite each source that documented in the body of your essay in the reference (or works cited) page. 10. Do not number sources in the reference page. 11. You must arrange the works cited page alphabetically, using the author’s last name first (or title of work if author’s name is not available). 12. You must use the current MLA style both in the textual citation and reference page. 13. A strong concluding paragraph is a must! (Here, you are free to give your own observations about the experience you gained from this project, or you may relate your own–or someone else’s–experience to that of the character you discussed in the body of the paper.)
