Assignment 2: Response to “Perspectives on Addiction: A Panel Discussion” video I would like this assignment checked over for grammar, sentence structure and university-style vocabulary. I would also like it checked with the following instructions to be sure I have adequately answered all the questions.  The content comes from a tube video called “Existential Analisis: Addictions Panel Discussion Nov 6, 2014 with Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Alfried Langle, and Er. Bruce Alexander. Instructions  pages double spaced). In this assignment you will answer two sets of questions. A) The first set of questions is required and is as follows: What is your overall reflection and reaction to this video? What questions came up for you as you watched the video? Be sure to have one comment on each ‘section’ of the video. B) For your second set of questions you can choose one from the sets of questions below. Each of the sets of questions correspond to a separate topic in the the discussion panel video. Choose one set of questions and respond to them in written form. 1) What are the similarities and differences between the speakers’ perspectives on what addiction is? In what ways do these match and differ with your own assumptions? In what ways do these match or differ from what you have learned in this program, or from society?   2) What is the importance of belonging in addiction, according to these three speakers? Do you agree or disagree? How does this compare to what you have learned in the program and society? 3) In what ways do Längle and Maté differ in their understanding of will? What do you think Maté’s main concern is with Längle’s description of the will? How can Längle’s understanding of will be used in therapy while still attending to Maté’s concerns? How do you think will is involved in addiction, how much do people choose? Consider how this is different or the same as what you have learned in this program or from society. 4) What is Alexander’s question about therapy? What do Längle and Maté say is the reason therapy has not cured addiction yet? What is Alexander’s reason? What do you take away from this part of the discussion as what you will need to do to become and effective addictions counsellor? 5) What do each speaker say is their hope for addictions treatment? How do these differ or complement your own reasons for entering the field of addictions treatment?
