Module 1 – SLP PROVIDING MEANINGFUL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

For the SLP assignment you will create a professional development and collaboration nine-month plan. For each module, you will develop one section of the plan for each of the nine months. Each month, you will address a different subject and grade level. The sections to be addressed are as follows: Professional Development Goal: (for example, improve math instruction). Include specific rationale for choosing this goal and what you expect the outcome to be. Professional Development Skills to Improve: What instructional skills or curricular approach needs improvement? Describe it in detail. Professional Development Activity: What specific activity or strategy will be used? Describe it clearly. Where will this activity take place? Who will be involved? How will you measure improvement? What specific assessments (formative or summative) will be used to measure improvement? Example: At the end of this course each of the nine months should look similar to this: September Grade Level: 5 PD Goal Instructional Skill PD Activity Measurement Used To improve student learning in the area of number and operations-fractions. Rationale: Students’ scores in the 5th grade fraction assessment show 60% of students passed.  To develop strategies for hands-on learning to increase student understanding of equivalent fractions.   Fifth grade teachers will meet in room 101.  Teachers will share strategies for hands-on learning addressing equivalent fractions.  Teachers will participate in each strategy and discuss new approaches.  Both formative (teacher observation and qualitative data) and summative assessment (unit assessments) will be used to progress monitor student understanding. SLP Assignment Expectations For Module 1 please complete only the Professional Development Goals section for each of the nine months. Use a different grade level and content subject for each month. Your sections should be detailed and specific.
