You are required to post items to the course online discussion forum that adds value to the topic that is covered that week linking theory to real-world examples. For discussion 1, watch a foreign film (you may choose one from the list or your select your own film). Please be sure to meet the minimum content required and proofread your work. Foreign films: Rashomon (Japan); The Aura (Argentina); Waltz with Bashir (Israel); Salt of this Sea (Palestine); Run Lola, Run (Germany); or choose your own. Post the trailer. Identify themes that emerged e.g. poverty, relationships, power, gender relations, etc. Analyze the movie based on the concepts in the weekly readings. Explain how the overall message was crafted by the filmmaker i.e. how were the cinematic techniques used to send a particular message. (Decide how you will organize your post e.g. you may comment on cinematic techniques, then identify themes or vice versa). Posts will be made in the Canvas discussion forum.
