Radio & Convergence

Take some time to visit the website of a radio station of your choice. For the station that you choose, look for ways that it makes use of convergence. To be able to meet the criteria of this assignment choose a radio station that has an AM/FM or Sirius XM component.   In a 300 word essay inform the class: What station you chose (include info on the station call number, location, format, and brief description of its programming). How does this radio station shows evidence of convergence? (Consider use of social media, what platforms you can access content from this station, unique features of its online presence, etc.) Provide at least TWO examples. Give at least three specific examples of what this radio station does with its converging platforms (For example don’t just tell me they have a website and they use social media. Give specific examples of what this station does on their website or with its social media presence. Some stations use their website to stream the on air show or allow guests to subscribe and download certain shows as podcasts. Some radio station use Twitter to post breaking news, contests, events etc. Fully examine how this radio station uses its converging platforms) Using  specific terminology and concepts from Chapter 6, identify TWO ways that the ideas in the chapter connect to this assignment. Be sure to name the specific concept and  give a specific  example of how the concept in the chapter connects to what you observed from research on your chosen radio station. Be sure to explain fully to demonstrate your understanding of the term or idea. Based on what you observed what do you conclude about the impact of convergence on radio as a mass medium.
