Description
Questions to answer: 1.) How would you define (in your own words) the difference between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods studies? 2.) How do qualitative and quantitative studies differ when it comes to theory? 3.) Why is participatory-social justice theory important in health studies research? 4.) Think about the research question below… We know a lot about social factors that contribute to eating disorders, but what about people who sit on the threshold of having one? What are the protective factors that prevent women with subthreshold eating disorders from crossing the threshold? To address this question, you interview 15 women with subthreshold eating disorders. Questions, data analysis, and writing were considered from the women’s perspective. With that in mind, answer the following questions: Is this a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods study? Why? Is this using any theoretical framework, lens, or perspective? (such as feminist perspective, racialized discourse, critical theory, queer theory, disability inquiry) Say you conduct a grounded theory experiment – what would that look like?
