Choose any of the topics/prompts below to write TWO (2) essays: ​ -Five paragraphs each -Times New Roman Font -12 pt Font -1 inch margins -Double spaced -MLA Format -Works Cited/Bibliography Page at the end   ·         Write an essay about the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. Who were the leaders during the Terror? Why was terror used against political enemies? ·         What was the political philosophy of John Locke? What were his views of human nature, and what did he think was the ideal government? ·         Write an essay that describes the similarities and differences between communism (as espoused by Karl Marx) and socialism. What are the similarities and what are the differences? Remember to focus on communism and socialism in the 1800s, and not modern versions of either one. ·         Write an essay about some of the scientific inventions coming out of the Industrial Revolution. Pick at least three inventions and explain how they improved work output or working conditions. ·         Write an essay about what it was like to live in an industrial city in Great Britain during the 1800s. How was this better or worse than living on a farm or in a rural area? ·         What was the concept of “Gran Colombia” in South America? Why did freedom from Spain lead to separate countries and not one large republic? ·         Write an essay that identifies the effects of Belgian Imperialism on the Congo. What policies did the Belgian colonial authorities use for economic gain? What penalties were imposed on the people if they failed to deliver their quotas?  ·         Identify three new weapons of war used in World War I. Describe how they were used and what countermeasures were used to minimize their effects. These weapons could have been used earlier, but perfected during World War I, such as airplanes and machine guns. ·         Write an essay describing the economic effects on Germany resulting from the Versailles Treaty.
