Description
History Assignment Book Analysis Book Title : Freedom Road Write a four to five page critical analysis in MLA style. Your paper must be written in Times New Roman, 12 fonts with one-inch margins and double-spaced. Papers not meeting this format will automatically be deducted thirty points. A book analysis/review is a description, critical analysis, and an evaluation on the quality, meaning, and significance of a book, not a retelling. It should focus on the book’s purpose, content, and authority. A critical book review is not a book report or a summary. It is a reaction paper in which strengths and weaknesses of the material are analyzed. Your paper should include a statement of what the author has tried to do, evaluate how well (in the opinion of the reviewer) the author has succeeded, and presents evidence to support this evaluation. Your paper should be organized in the following format: Introduction: Briefly introduce the book and the book’s author, including biographical information about the author (education, training, experience, etc.). Summary: The purpose of a critical book review is only minimally to provide a summary of the book. The summary should be limited to one page. Your goal is to provide a succinct summary that (1) provides evidence that you have read the material and that (2) tells the reader what the book is about. At this point, focus on the outline and major points of the text. Illustrate the author’s argument, but do not become sidetracked with minute details in the summary. Furthermore, avoid critique in this section, as you will have the opportunity to address such matters in the critical evaluation portion of your essay. Critical Evaluation: The critical evaluation section is the most important one of a book review. Your primary purpose in this section is to respond both positively and negatively to the book’s content and the author’s presentation. This section should be three pages in length.
