The research paper is supposed to compare “Their Eyes Are Watching God,” by Zora Neale Hurston to “Salvage the Bones,” by Jesmyn Ward. Specifically comparing the stress of the main characters finding their independance as women, or their desire to have independence. My thesis statement is, In a classic novel, Their Eyes Are Watching God and the modern novel Salvage the Bones, Janie and Esch develop the desire for independence, to be able to live on their own without restrictions or commands of gender norms and roles, which will allow them to be strong and independent women. Be sure to use quotes from both texts and evidence, no plagiarism and be sure to site all sources in MLA format. The entire paper must be typed in MLA formatting, meaning Times New Roman font, 12 size font and double spaced. Paper must be 7 pages minimum!
