This chapter explains the importance of social interaction and its relationship to social structure. It defines and illustrates the concepts of status set, ascribed and achieved statuses, master status, and status inconsistency. After reading, list a minimum of 5 statuses you currently occupy and roles attached to them. Then address the following questions: 1. How many of the statuses on your list are ascribed?
