Description
Digital Self-Ethnography Activity Objective: I can complete a digital self-ethnography over my activities, feelings, and thoughts. Procedure: Make a copy of Digital Self-Ethnography GoogleDoc (Links to an external site.) OR you can use this Digital Self-Ethnography.pdf Actions Instructions for the Google Doc option: Once you open it up, immediately go up to “File” and then “Make a Copy”. Title your copy using your name and then “Digital Self-Ethnography.” So if your name is Joe Schmoe, you would title it “Joe Schmoe’s Digital Self-Ethnography” You will spend 3 days creating a digital record of your activities and thoughts. The research question you will be trying to answer is: How am I adapting to this new way of school and life? Throughout each day you will record 8 of your activities/thoughts/feelings that you experienced. You will do this in the Activity Log section of your Digital Self-Ethnography File. 5. Each day you must also also collect Visual Artifacts . You will do this by taking 3-5 photos and putting them on the Visual Artifact page(s). Each photo must have a caption explaining its context (i.e., who or what is in it? What is happening in it? Etc.) It is not a requirement that you be in the photos yourself. 6. Lastly, you must complete one diary entry for each day. Complete these in the Diary Entry sections. Entries should be at least ten sentences long and recount or describe the most significant or noteworthy events that happened over the course of the day and how you felt/what you thought about them. 7. Once you’ve completed an Activity Log, Visual Artifact page, and Diary Entry for each of the 3 days, write a 10-20 sentence Conclusion in which you discuss some of the trends or patterns that emerged during your study of yourself and your life. In other words, talk about the activities and thoughts that occurred on a daily basis. Then answer the following question: what are the causes and effects of those trends or patterns? (I.e., what causes them and how do they affect you?) ***You might feel like the events you’re making a record of are boring… That’s ok! These events can still give us insights into our thoughts individually and human nature as a whole. 8. Your assignment is due with your assignments in the ext module – this will give you a minimum of 1 week to complete your Digital Self-Ethnography, which means you can take breaks in between the days you record. (e.g., you can record your activities on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday if that is what works best for you. You don’t have record three days in a row.) 9. Submit your Digital Self-Ethnography report to this assignment by either copying and pasting a link to your GoogleDoc or uploading your PDF.
