General description of the Research Paper: The research paper for this course invites students, in consultation with me, to 【critically examine the historical events that resulted in the formation (or attempted formation) of an educational movement, policy or curricular shift.】 The paper will be between 5-7 double space pages (including citations), font 12 – Times New Roman and demonstrate the correct application of the citation style of your choice. Step by Step: 1. Check “Instructions.pdf” to see the example of how to write an introduction paragraph, thesis statement, and second paragraph. 2. Check “Lecture Slides.docx” and “Lecture Videos.docx” to see what’ve been covered in this class. Make sure your topic chosen is related to the class. 【Let me CONFIRM your intro & thesis BEFORE you start writing the whole paper】 3. The sources will be of two types: books and peer-reviewed articles. I require at least 【6】 【peer reviewed, academic articles】 of the sort you have been reading in this class and a maximum of 2 books. (Examples of class reading: “MCDONELL.pdf” and “WARREN.pdf”) 4. Tips from the TA (grader) #1: This is a History Paper — Needs to Contain a Historical Narrative. However, it is really important that you do NOT turn in a paper that critically accesses whether the event/movement was great, horrible, or somewhere in the middle. That is, you should NOT be going over the positives and negatives of the topic.
