Description
Edgar Allan Poe presents three memorable narrators in these three stories. Out of the three, Montresor from The Cask of Amontillado is clearly the most well balanced as well as the only one who gets away with his murder. Take a look at the following: All three narrators describe their crimes and the reasons that they committed their foul deeds. What are the reasons they give for committing murders? Are there any shreds of a true motive that can be detected in the ravings of the narrator’s from The Tell-Tale Heart and The Imp of the Perverse? Or are they really just crazy? What does Montresor say is his motivation? Is that the truth? What do the events actually show? What are some obvious lies or fallacies presented by the three narrators in their stories? Are they intentional or unintetional deceptions? What are the reasons for the confessions of all three narrators? What is different about Montresor’s situation in The Cask of Amontillado? Be sure to include specific examples from all of the stories in your analysis. 1.
