Description
We’ve just covered some of Elizabeth Loftus’ immense contributions to our understanding of memory and some of the reasons it’s not as reliable as we’d like to believe (or hope!). So, now I’m asking you to watch her powerful TED talk (embedded below). Afterwards, you will address the two questions I have shared below. https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_loftus_how_reliable_is_your_memory Also, just as a trigger warning, a rape case is discussed by Loftus in her talk. Just so you’re aware prior to viewing. Think about your sense of your own memory. After watching this talk (not to mention information from lecture and your text), do you have the same degree of confidence in the accuracy of your own memory as you did when you first began the semester? How and why have things changed? Do you believe research regarding false memory and related issues (like the misinformation effect and Loftus’ other work) should be integrated into our legal system? If so, how do you think such an integration could happen? For your responses, I am expecting at least one paragraph for each question. So, two paragraphs minimum in total.
