Description
In addition to completing your thread, you are to write at least 2 comments to your classmates’ threads, 1 solid paragraph each. The comments have to be substantive and incite further discussion. According to CUNY Blackboard, Substantive comments mean comments “that contribute to the discussion’s development. A substantive post contains sentences that establish or support a student’s position”. Students’ comments are not just to praise classmates or their threads, but should rather present student’s abilities to analyze classmates’ work, while applying specific key terms, concepts, examples, etc. Non-substantive comments are those where there are general phrases that could be applied to any thread, without reading it closely and which lacks key terms. Non-substantive comments will not count towards a student’s grade. Commenting on classmates’ threads shows the students’ ability to think critically about other opinions as well as can provide substantive assessments of the work of others. Be respectful when voicing your opinions, and be receptive to other people’s points of view. For both the thread and the comments, students must follow standard English writing, use complete sentences and grammar. Students should follow APA
