Description
Put yourself in the position of a policymaker, youth sports organization president, and/or advocate trying to help solve the growing issue of parental/coaches rage and violence in youth sports in America. Write a minimum of a two-page letter to parents and coaches regarding this issue (following all guidelines for written assignments in the course). (c) In your letter, you must include five topics that you have learned in class and/or covered in the textbook that you think must be known by parents and coaches that may assist them in understanding children’s development and learning motor skills and how youth sports then maybe positive asset in that development. You must also include the justification and/or rationale of why your choices. For example, you may say that children learn through phases moving from cognitive to autonomous and that performance in a given skill may vary across learning phases. Thus, getting angry at a child for how they perform may not be appropriate because that child may be at a different learning stage compare to another peer regardless of having the same age. Youth sport can then be used as an environment that will enable each child to progress at their own rate, etc. – THE FIVE TOPICS ARE MANIPULATIVE SKILLS, LOCOMOTOR SKILLS, GROSS MOTOR SKILLS, FINE MOTOR SKILLS, AND BALANCE/ COORDINATION. (d) You may title and/or organize your letter any way you want but your five selected topics must be clearly discernible – in lay terms that means that I can see and know where you are talking about them! (e) It is highly encouraged that you use references to support your arguments. Keep in mind you are trying to make an impact in changing a problem so people must believe what you are saying and have evidence to back-up your words. Important Your task is to write a clear essay addressing the task given to you. Check grammar and spelling. The paper must be between 2 to 5 full-length pages… not 1 ½ page but 2 to 5. You are encouraged to use external resources to support your statements. Points will be awarded based on the adequacy of the responses, proper use of formatting and style, as well as the use of references to support your work. Type your responses in double-spaced and using the questions as your guide—this is an essay. Prior to submitting your paper make sure it includes your name, course number, assignment title, and page numbers. One point will be deducted from the assignment grade for each missing component listed above. It is necessary that you check your work once you write it; therefore spelling/grammar will be graded as part of an assignment. Deductions in this area will be made at the rate of one (1) point per error. 10% of the assignment mark will be deducted from your grade if this format is not followed.
