Ability to analyse relevant concepts, principles and different approaches to understanding crime, including crime measurement, and apply and communicate this knowledge to a range of crime problems. Ability to evaluate how popular perceptions of crime, including those concerning the causes and consequences of crime as often portrayed in the media, relate to research-based evidence on significant crime problems. Ability to respond to the question concisely, with an appropriate focus and in the required format. Instructions Students are required to answer FOUR questions from a list of 9 available, which cover a number of topics from the Unit. Questions may be answered in any order. Please write the number of the question and the question at the top of the page on which your answer begins. Each questions answer must: Be between 350 and 400 words (there is no ±10% allowance/leeway) Be started on a new page (using the template provided) Include conceptual discussion (definition/discussion of concepts, key issues/debates/examples) Include examples from across the unit or other evidence to help support your response Cite AT LEAST ONE reputable/academic criminological source or (this can include the textbook)Australian Criminal Justice by Mark Findlay; Stephen Odgers; Stanley Yeo / Crime and justice : a guide to criminology by edited by Darren Palmer, Willem de Lint, Derek Dalton Referencing must be in Harvard style.
