Examine the causes, nature, and results of Roman imperialism, considering both internal and external factors. Explain four points on how did Rome become an empire based on these questions: What was the political structure of the Roman Republic and what was the Roman Constitution that gave rise to the Res Publica? What values did Livy emphasize in his account of Cincinnatus? How important were those values to Rome’s success? Why did the story of Cincinnatus have such a strong appeal to most Romans?
