you will write a profile of someone you know that focuses on their past or current job. You can write about anyone for this essay, but I would recommend using someone about whom you would honestly like to learn more. You also need to choose someone whom you will be able to interview in the next week or so. The purpose of this essay is two-fold: both to inform your audience about a certain job, but also to entertain them. Details like average salary and day-to-day work duties are important, but also feel free to include more colorful/interesting details that come up in your interviews. Imagine a general audience who may not have much background knowledge about your topic. Successful essays will do all the following: • Remain focused. Remember, you are focusing specifically on your subject’s career. While this essay may not have an explicitly stated thesis, you should still be clear on the main point you are trying to make. • Use sources to give background information. The Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupation Outlook Handbook is a great place to get this information  https://www.bls.gov/ooh/. • Be 3-4 pages in length. • Have clear introduction and conclusion paragraphs. • Include a works cited page in MLA format.
