Description
The Informative Speech assignment requires research. Even if you are an expert on the topic that you choose you will need to back up your knowledge with current credible sources. Your text book says, “For the purposes of this book, we define research as scholarly investigation into a topic in order to discover, revise, or report facts, theories, and applications. Now you’ll notice that there are three distinct parts of research: discovering, revising, and reporting.” There is primary research and secondary research. Most of your sources will probably come from secondary sources. If you take the time to do primary research you will get extra bonus points.
Your Informative Bibliography should include at least 8-10 sources. You should take advantage of the Library Data Bases. Do Not just do a google search and list ten URLs. Please include a variety of types of sources. You should have at least three scholarly, peer reviewed journals from a Data Base, one book, one special interest periodical, and one newspaper or blog. The rest can come from any type of source.
Please use Citing Sources from the Library Website for assistance if you do not know how to format your bibliography. Bibliographic sources should be cited in MLA format. Plagiarism is not allowed on speech assignments as well as written assignments.
