Essay length: 5 paragraphs
This essay will contain an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion.
Consider responding to distinct anecdotes, examples, argument(s) being provided by the author.
Pay close attention to the evidence that you find convincing or not convincing. These are the elements that you will likely be analyzing in order to answer the prompt.
Each body paragraph should examine an element or elements (quote or paraphrase) from the article that build(s) to support for the thesis.
Follow this formula for the body paragraphs:
Part One: Write a topic sentences to support the thesis and discuss the paragraph’s topic
Part Two: Identify the evidence (support) in the form of a paraphrase or quotation(s). You should be using MLA style signal phrases and in-text citations.
Part Three: Analyze (without saying “I”) the evidence
Part Four: Transition to the next topic
Also note that you will be required to have a works cited page.
Instructions
Create an academic essay consisting of an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion in response to ONE ofthe assigned prompts. The paragraphs should be well-developed throughout the entire essay.
Apply basic composition skills: topic sentences, thesis statement, logical and effective organization, effective integration of sources, transitions, and incorporating appropriate content.
Understand and apply standard written English. Use appropriate vocabulary and avoid mechanical and grammatical errors.
Understand and apply effective source integration. You must use the assigned sources throughout your essay. Make sure to include correct in-text citations and works cited entries for the sources used.
