Theoretically, you will have an opportunity to explore a particular area of abnormal psychology in depth, critically evaluate research papers, and integrate theory, research and applications of abnormal psychology and treatments. The application is that you will discover what works best for treatment of the mental health condition you have chosen. Details: This paper is a 6 (+/-1) page paper, excluding title page and references. No abstract is needed. The paper must be presented in APA format. Note that a new version of APA is available and you are welcome to use either the 6th or 7th edition.  Direction: Choose one of the specific mental health disorders from the textbook (e.g., social anxiety disorder, bipolar 2 disorder) and provide evidence for the most effective/efficacious psychological treatments for that particular disorder according to the research evidence. Try to narrow your topic as much as possible (e.g., “cognitive behavior therapy for performance subtype of social anxiety disorder” as opposed to “therapy for depression”). The more you can narrow the disorder, treatment, and topic, the easier it will be to write a study on the effectiveness of treatment. Ideally, you will choose about 3 papers that are original/primary/empirical research articles from peer reviewed journals on the treatments for the disorder you have chosen. The articles should be dated within the last 10 years (2010-2020).   You are not expected to know the procedures and statistics for the research papers you have chosen; just focus on the big picture.
