Response Paper #2 Guidelines -West Side Story (worth 30 pts.) In class this semester we have discussed acting. Define what you believe to be good acting and bad acting. 1.      Decide whether the majority of the acting in West Side Story was good OR bad 2.      Pick two actors from the show who you can use to justify why you think the majority of acting was good or bad.  Pick specific moments of their work to justify your answer to the question, 2 moments from Act I and two moments from Act II. Here are a few things to consider: Think about how believable you felt the actors were or were not. Did they “take you on an emotional ride”? Think about their physical and vocal qualities/abilities. Did they seem to embody their characters physically and vocally? Ideally your paper will be five paragraphs; An introduction where you answer the first two parts of the paper, A paragraph on each of the three actors you pick, and finally a conclusion restating your main ideas. Remember that this is NOT a play summary paper.  This paper is a response to West Side Story based on the questions/ideas above.  There is no right or wrong answer to these questions as long as you follow the directions.  Your grade will be based upon how clearly you articulate your ideas and how specifically you support them with examples from the production.
