Prospectus Steps: Step 1: Choose a community sphere that you are passionate about. NOTE: You can choose more than one as some areas of service learning overlap into multiple community spheres.  Global community involvement National community involvement Local community involvement Religious community involvement School community involvement Home/Family community involvement   Step 2: Choose/Research an organization related to your community sphere.  NOTE: If the organization you want does not exist, you can use this final project as an opportunity to design/develop an organization that is needed. If you choose a home/family community involvement project, then the final paper becomes an opportunity for you to self-reflect on what you can change within your home and family dynamics (rather than investing time and effort for an outside organization you invest time and effort in your home life to change those closest to you). This part of your prospectus should include: Information about the organization (background information/mission statement/etc.). If choosing the home/family community involvement, you would self-reflect on who you are, strengths and weaknesses, and how you can better connect or provide transformative change to those closest to you.    Step 3: Some questions you might consider. What role do you hope to provide in the community sphere/organization that you chose? Why is additional labor and investment needed for this sphere/organization? How will your work and the organization’s work promote equity for all people? Explain the logistics of how easily you can get involved, e.g. time commitment, transportation to and from the organization, etc.  Does the work contribute to a new model of social justice?   Step 4: Textbook Connections You will need to connect your proposed service-learning involvement, self-growth transformation, or creating a brand new organization to at least one textbook. You will need to site the specific section of the textbook that relates to your proposed ideas and provide critical reflection on any quotes or summaries that you use. You are welcome to reference the lectures, Optional Course Articles and Videos, and collaborative group presentations in this section of the assignment. Make sure to provide a Works Cited page at the end of your prospectus.    Format of the Final Exam: The form of the final exam can be: Traditional 3-5 page length paper that utilizes the usual MLA formatting procedures (12pt Times New Roman font, double spaced, header with a page number, works cited page, etc.)
