“Desiree’s Baby” by Kate Chopin

Essay #2:  Research of a topic from a choice of themes.                   1000 word minimum with internal citations and works cited list following MLA                    format.   Kate Chopin’s “Desiree’s Baby”              to reiterate about the research essay, it should be at least 3 pages in Times New Roman font and have a separate Works Cited page of works referenced in your essay in MLA format (see sample research essay and notes for format); the main focus of your essay should be on works of literature, but should include a reference to at least two secondary sources ( could be like letter or a published interview with an author) or, as in the case with the Sexton sources in Electronic Reserves, one primary source that is not the literature (like Sexton’s letter to Vonnegut or a published interview with an author) and one secondary source (like the essay on Sexton’s work by Alicia Ostriker, the correct title of which is “That Story: The Changes of Anne Sexton;” Writing Like A Woman is the title of the book in which this essay appears, and the full pages for the Works Cited is 59-85).  .  Sources that are part of larger containers, like Bryant’s introduction and notes, should   give all the pages that the source is on in the container at the end of the citation.  Only sources referenced in the research essay, whether paraphrased or quoted from, should be entered in a Works Cited list at the end of the essay.     For online sources a URL address may be (MLA says it should be; I don’t care) included at the end of the full citation of author, title, container, publisher and date. The main thing is a URL address by itself is not an acceptable citation.
