Communist Manifesto

The Communist Manifesto is a great text, which belongs to the best of the Socialist tradition. But more than 170 years later, there is the necessity to handle it carefully. It can also be an instrument of analysis and combat. However, it (or part of it) can also serve – and with a certain “basis” – as an ideology of new forms of exploitation and oppression. The worst that could be done today is to transform it into what it never was: a religious text. Unfortunately, this transfiguration still occurs in certain environments, with the results as we know, of countries as Cuba, North Korea, and so on. The Communist Manifesto, in today’s society, might seem outdated to the circumstances. How would society reinterpret the manifesto to balance democracy, modern capitalism, and without losing its essence? I wanted to discuss how the communist manifesto doesn’t serve our society today, either because of ethics, ideals, and so on and how contemporary examples of communism have not been successful, as the countries mentioned above. Furthermore, the main research to be done is how would the Manifesto be interpreted in a modern view, taking into consideration, as I said, democracy and capitalism.
