Interdisciplinary Research Problem Statement (1 paragraph) The problem statement should be clear, define the scope of the problem, and include context explaining why it is important to investigate the problem.  *You have the option to present a new problem if you do not want to continue with the same problem; however, it must connect to your area of emphasis. (Criminal Justice and Leadership) 3. Justification for an Interdisciplinary Approach (approximately 150 words) Explain why the problem is complex, related to more than one discipline, cannot be solved by only one discipline, and is an unresolved or important issue.  4. Relevant Academic Disciplines (approximately 150 words) Based on your preliminary literature search and article reviews, identify 2  relevant academic disciplines that have insight into an interdisciplinary approach to your proposed research problem and explain your rationale for including these disciplines.  At least one discipline must be the same as one of the disciplines described in question 3 above.  5. Connection to Disciplines (approximately 300 words) Provide evidence that the research problem is connected to one academic discipline in which you have successfully taken at least 3 courses at the 2000, 3000, or 4000-level. For that one discipline, include the course prefix, number, and title, as well as a brief description of what you learned in the class that relates to the research problem (do not copy course descriptions directly from the undergraduate catalog). This discipline must be included in the relevant disciplines section above. Research problems that are not clearly related to your previous academic disciplines or come from group discussions will not be approved.   My Academic discipline course at the 2000 are: Applied Fields ·        Course 1: CRMJ2332, Drug Identification, and Effects. ·        Course 2: CRMJ2020, Intro to Corrections. ·        Course 3: CRMJ2020, Intro to Corrections                                         Research Topic The new domestic threat “drug abuse” and crime rates.   NB: Students should start by selecting one of the research problems they presented in the Topic Exploration assignment and determine two disciplines that are potentially related to the research problem.  For each of the two disciplines, students will locate and evaluate two sources (one peer-reviewed article and one government or trade publication, or an additional peer-reviewed article). All sources must be published in the last 10 years.
