A Deeper Look into Identity

What I am asking you guys to do is this. 1.) Choose at least 2 authors that we have discussed during the first part of the semester – Appiah, Said, and/or Butler – and explain their theories about identity. Try to choose ideas or authors that you found intriguing or relevant to what you want to discuss about identity. 2.) Pick at least 2 authors from our readings in the second part of the semester – Griffin, Wideman, Miller, and/or Behar – and summarize the ideas that they have put forth about identity. As with the first two authors, you want to use authors that are relevant to your own thoughts about identity. 3.) Explore your own thoughts about identity in relationship to what your chosen authors have said. Remember that you have spent a good deal of time inside the academic conversation about identity, and as such you have valuable input to add to the conversation.
