The Content       Formal analysis/visual description of the artwork: o   How does it look? §  Describe the artwork’s material & techniques and the formal elements (color, line, shape, texture, and space) o   What do you see? §  Describe the artwork’s subject matter or narrative. o   Remember to use the Introductory Vocabulary terms from the beginning of class       Contextual analysis/historical information: o   When was it created? §  Describe the characteristics of the time period and culture when your artwork was created o   Why was it created? §  What was the function of the artwork and where was it originally seen? o   What is the subject matter of the artwork? §  You should connect the subject matter to the context here. Why was this subject matter chosen during this time period?       Research question: o   Provide a brief answer to ONE of your research questions. Be sure to clearly state the question and then answer it in a few sentences. The Bibliography       Submit a bibliography of at least 3 scholarly sources o   You may use the same bibliography as the one submitted for the Annotated Bibliography §  If you do this, remember to remove the annotations (summarizes). I only want to know which sources you consulted for the project.       If you used images from other sources (such as Khan Academy) then include those citations here also. Remember to them as “Figure 1,” “Figure 2,” etc. and include them in a separate section titled “Images.”       The bibliography will be submitted as a document separate from the project.
