Intercultural Communication Final Paper Rubric Purpose: This assignment is designed for you to demonstrate that you can apply concepts from the text to compare two cultural groups and determine their cultural differences.  Evaluation Introduction: 10 points Introduce the two cultures. Quality answers will do the following  Clearly Identify the cultures to compare Clear rationale for comparing these two cultures Solid overall background to two cultures Content: 30 points The content section will be assessed on how you identify and explain the concepts that will be used for the comparison. Quality answers will do the following:   Articulate three different concepts from the text Provide the necessary information for the audience to understand how the concepts work and what they are meant to explain about culture Be appropriate to evaluate the artifacts chosen Analysis: 30 points The analysis section will be assessed on how well the concepts in the content section are used to compare the two cultures chosen in the introduction. Quality answers will do the following:  Have at least two cultural artifacts to compare for each culture, in each area of comparison. Cultural artifacts are anything that is culturally significant to the culture, like physical objects, cultural rituals, music, movies, customs, etc. Use similar artifacts from each culture, i.e. comparing ritual to ritual, or movie to movie.  Emphasize the communicative elements of the artifacts Clearly explain the significance of each artifact ( 4 artifacts for each culture) = 8 sources  Clearly state any similarities or differences between the cultures in the area covered Structure: 10 points Your papers must meet the following minimum requirements Have a minimum of 8 quality sources. Be 6-8 pages in length Have 1 inch margins Have an APA style cover page and reference section Use 12 point Times New Roman font Grammar: 20 points Grammar will be assessed with the following criteria The paper should be free of Grammatical errors The paper should be well structured in a manner that makes it easy to read and follow the flow of ideas.
