Paragraph 1 Define your chosen career in your own words. You can provide more than one definition. Then, find a book or journal and provide a quote that matches your definition. Explain the quote. Explain why you chose this career. What type of degree or training will you need? How many years of training will you need before you can work? Paragraph 2 Find a credible website that shows researched statistics. How much will you make yearly on average? What is the unemployment rate for your job in the United States? Can you do your chosen career in other countries? What sort of licenses do you need? Do you have to do continuing education every year to maintain your job? Provide a book or journal quote relating to any subtopics in this paragraph. Explain the quote. Paragraph 3 Give the historical background of your profession. When did it begin? Who was responsible for creating your particular profession? If it was an individual, then say something about their background. If it is a group, then say something about them. If nobody knows, then explain experts’ best guess as to how it came about. Provide a book or journal quote about any subtopic in this paragraph. Explain your quote. Paragraph 4 What contexts does your profession impact? Explain only those contexts relevant to your career. Consider social, cultural, economic, political, religious, artistic, and educational context, etc. Find one quote in a book or journal that relates to a subtopic in this paragraph. Explain your quote. Paragraph 5 How does your career fit into the context of globalization? Give examples of how your career positively and negatively impacts globalization. How does your career relate to global citizenship? Give examples of how your career positively and negatively impacts global citizens. Provide one quote from a book or journal that is relevant to any subtopic in this paragraph. Explain your quote. Paragraph 6 Time to reflect. What will be the most difficult things about your job? What will you love about doing your job? Is there a chance your job can become obsolete through AI or robotics? If so, what else could you do in your chosen field? What would be your backup plan if your job ceases to exist? Find a relevant quote from a book/journal that fits into any subtopic in this paragraph. Explain the quote. Works Cited Page List the six sources that you quoted from in a separate works cited page. Use standard MLA format or OWL Purdue to see what a Works Cited Page should look like. Hint: It is like an annotated bibliography except without the paragraphs.
