Description
1. Write up a brief summary of the film you watched (in your own words, in your own thoughts). This will prepare you to work on the group presentation about the film. 2. Critically analyze the film as noted in the “Movie Club Project: Before you watch”. Questions to consider: Who is represented in the film and how reliant are these characters on stereotypes? What is the historical time in which this film was set and how does that influence the language used, characters, and representation? What problematic elements do you see in the film that perpetuate stereotypes or are other concerns? The Film: Joy Luck Club. Citation and Academic Integrity Reminder: Similar to other assignments, you are expected to cite your sources for any information you present that is not considered common knowledge or your own thoughts/opinions. For example: reference your sources at the bottom of each slide or section of your project in addition to a complete reference list at the end. You are also reminded to write in your own thoughts and words unless you are directly quoting a source (using quotation marks). Be sure to paraphrase well and do not directly copy from any sources, even if you cite them in your references.
