Your research paper will cover (1) a topic of your choosing, so long as it concerns some aspect (doctrinal, ritual, historical, etc.) of Buddhism. one to two paragraph summary of the topic, its significance, and you interest in it and must have (2) a clearly stated regional and (3) historical context. You must also have a clear argument or position concerning your topic. This is not simply a descriptive essay. Additionally, some guiding questions that will situate your research. You will also provide a preliminary list of 5-7 sources, at least 2 of which must be full-length books. Rough Draft: 4-5 pages. At this stage of your research it is absolutely essentially that you have a clearly articulated and feasible argument. The rough draft is, to be sure, a starting point. Nevertheless, what we want to see at this point is that you have engaged actively with your sources, that you have set up a workable argument, and that you have begun executing your argument across a few major points. Attention:  You should narrow it down to one region or country, if this is the path you wish to take. You should also have a more specific influence in mind, such as how architecture or local thought was changed. our sources are also all just introductions to Buddhism，which are not going to help very much. You really need to narrow down your topic. You can meet me during office hours to discuss how to do so. If you insist on proceeding with your topic as-is，you may have a lot of difficulties writing a good paper.
